On May 25. 2024, 30 years have passed since the Salesians of Don Bosko arrived in Bulgaria. On the feast, a solemn liturgy was celebrated by Bishop Hristo Proykov, who delivered a solemn speech, in which, not without emotion, he mentioned our beloved Father Martin and thanked for the presence and activity of the Salesians in Bulgaria. The liturgy was attended by priests from various parishes in Bulgaria, salesians who are currently working outside Bulgaria – Fr. Jaroslav Fogl and Fr. Jaromir Zadrapa, as well as guests from abroad. The lay people who came for the celebration were from the towns of Kazanlak, Burgas, Plovdiv, Rakovski, Sofia and Yambol.
After the service, a treat was prepared, during which all the guests had the opportunity to enjoy a delicious meal in the pleasant company of old friends. In the great hall there were pictures with memories of the Salesians’ work with the children. There were many smiles, old and dear memories collected during these 30 years. During the celebration, we were delighted to have young people present who had attended our activities over the years as children.
After the treat, it was the turn of the folk dances, then Father Petr Nemec, who is one of the first Salesians to arrive in Bulgaria, projected photos and shared fond memories of his arrival in our country. Marcos Dalla Cia then presented the activities of the past year. In the presentation summarizing the 30 years of work and life in Bulgaria, there was a lot of emotion, love, faith, hope, work, effort and dedication that the Salesians have put in all these years and continue to put in today.”
